Sarah is an experienced silversmith with advanced wax carving skills. She will show us how to create a wax design of our own choice jewellery or small solid or hollowed design, i.e a charm, fineal for a silver item. Members will be encouraged to come with an image or design of a small 3D object they would like to make, for example a charm, simple jewellery item, or filial for a silver object.
The weekend will include tool making, use etc, design transfer, carving, repair and problem solving, finishing/polishing and removing weight, textures, shrinkage and casting issues.
Guidance through a first test object, discussion of individual designs, equipment lists and notes to take away.
At the end of the weekend she will take our creation and have them cast as a batch if required. Returning them to Jasso in a 2-3 weeks.
Materials cost will be low to supply wax plus the cost of casting by weight of silver if requested. A basic equipment list will be prepared in due course but is not expected to be out of the ordinary range of tools.
